Salt and Light

With the seats packed with Christian Life Week Campers fresh from a week's experience of their lives, Tom Schmidt, who wrote the CLW bible studies, stood up to share more about what it means to be salt and light. Using fun examples and interactive displays, Tom explored what Jesus was talking about when he told us we were the salt and light of the world.

iWorship

iworship4What is worship? What does it mean to worship God? Do we need to be at church? Should there be music? Ayodele came before us with a simple definition; Worship - to bow down before God, the attitude of our spirit.

Working through what worship is, what we gain from it, why we do it, what it costs us and what keeps us from worship, Ayodele used biblical passages and tears to share with us what it means to come before God in spirit and bow down before him. After this time of teaching, she then shared with us her own struggle to come before God, while her body was weak and in pain. So often the best thing we can take away from worship is the reminder that when we are weak, God is strong.

Generosity

How rich do you think you are? Not as rich as the person with the fancy car? Not as well off as the guy down the street with the bigger house? It's easy for us to think of ourselves as "not rich compared with..." but when we compare ourselves to someone with out a job? Or someone with out any food? We are richer than you think.

But what are we doing with our riches? Hoarding them and hoarding them. Craving more and more so that we can store up our wealth. Believing the lie that if I have a fancy car then I'll be happy. If I have a 5 bedroom house, then I'll be successful. If I have... then I'll be.... Is this really true?

This world has so much and we have so much that is just wasted. But thinking about what we don't use and giving it away to people who can use it is still missing the point. That's not generous - that's just sensible. God wants us to be generous, the same way that he was. Unconditionally. Unattached to the material things of this world, he was free to give give give.

What can you give today?
