Whos heard of the website/organisation called xxxchurch.com?
i'm just curious of what peoples thoughts were, and how well known they are.

For those who don't know basically they started from a christian website which is all about porn (does not contain porn, but information and news on the topic). And their ministry is in two basic parts:
The first part is trying to expose the "dirty little secret" of porn in our churchs and society in general, and they do this by often outrageous campaighs such as "porn and pancakes" or "porn sunday". They basically desire to bring the issue of pornography addiction out into the open so that people can get help - and their website is set-up for that.
The second part of their ministry (and the more controversal) is that they are also trying to reach out to those people in the adult entertainment industry and they do this by running booths INSIDE the Porn expos across firstly america (where they are based) and then spreading out to other countries as they grow. They stand in the expos and hand out bibles with "jesus love porn stars" on the cover. Through loving these people they develop relationships and are able to offer Jesus in actions rather than tracts. They also help those who desire to get out of the porn industry to do so.
It is truely an amazing ministy with lots of lives being changes and lots of opposition standing up against it. What do you think?

I've heard of it and i really like their goals. Super cool if you ask me. What they do kinda reminds me of what Jesus did - be a friend to sinners. When you read the gospels, it's so easy to see where Jesus is all the time - around the lowlifes of society! there are numerous times that the religious leaders want to critisie him, so they do so by saying "he's bad becuase of the people he hangs out with". The thing is though, that even though he hung out with people like that - he didn't join in their acts.

Some of the biggest wittinesses to people is when you are a friend of sinners, but you don't sin. How else are we supposed to love people if we don't get close to them? I think this is something the devil uses though because when we do get close to people like that, there is no doubt that we will be tempted to join them. Ahh remembering Jesus didn't give in... makes me want to try hard, and not just on my own strength, but on the strength that Jesus gives me - with out him, i'm nothing!

I guess that's just why we need to also stick with our own Christian communities and keep going to church and whatnot so we have that balance and don't fall into temptation.

It's really strange, I'll give it that, but is definitely a good thing.

One thing I worry about is that they can give the wrong message to passers-by who don't look into it further.

An anectode: I first heard about them at AGMF, and essentially I saw XXXChurch, "Jesus Loves Porn Stars", and the first few sentences of an article talking about porn or masturbation (can't remember exactly).

The first few sentences were satirical, but without the rest of the article, it came across fairly sincere, and for quite a while, I'm like "umm...I can't believe AGMF let them put that stall there", and avoided it like the plague, me being the moral Christian

I have a great deal of respect for what they do now, I have no idea how they can keep from temptation - I'd imagine that strippers and such all over the place would pose quite a challenge, but hey, God's with em right

there are also many good resources on the website for events such as "porn sunday" events designed to talk about it IN CHURCH (gasp!) what would you guys think of such a service "hypothetically" if we (or any other church) held one...
