I'm just curious as to what Bible verses people have favourited or particularly like and why.

The one that always jumps to mind for me is Isaiah 40:8 which says "The grass withers and the flowers fade but the word of our God stands forever." I came across this first at the end of someone's post in some forum which I don't remember and I just really like it because it says to me that God is eternal and always there even when everything/everyone else disappears. I guess I also like it because it sounds poetic.

But most other Bible verses that jump out at me usually have some personal meaning attached ie. they really spoke to me when I was going through something tough or some other issue etc. What about the rest of you?

These are some of my favourite verses:

Eph 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved through faith - and this not of yourselves - it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast.

2 Cor 5:7 We live by faith, not by sight.

2 Cor 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

Rom 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Rom 8:38-39 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of
what we do not see.

Each of these verses is special to me because they have all helped me, at different times, to grow in my faith - especially when my overly logical mind tries to understand things on its own.
I guess Proverbs 3:5 sums it all up together:
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

I love how the Romans and 2 Conrinthians verses are separated by 10 verses each. (small things amuse small minds)

I'd say i'm of the same mind when it comes to bible verses - the ones that really speak to me when i'm going thru something tough are often the ones that i love the most. I also tend to like anything that is God related too though... or things that really point out his sovereignty. Anything that says &quot;God is in control and that's not going to change!&quot;

2 Chronicles 15: 4-3 &quot;For a long time Israel was without the true God, without a priest to teach them and with out the law to instruct them. But whenever they were in trouble they turned to the Lord, the God of Israel and sought him out and they found him.&quot;

Hosea 2: 20 &quot;I will be faithful to you and make you mine and you will finally know me as the Lord.&quot;

I'm not sure if I have a particular bible verse that I specifically connect to, but there is a saying that I'd like to share. This may not be a bible verse, but it is quote that I have cherished for a while and love to use. It has come from the novel 'Dreamers' by Angela Elwell Hunt, which depicts the story of Joseph in Egypt, in the Legacies of the Ancient River series. It is:

&quot;Belief is a truth held in the mind, but faith is a fire in the heart.&quot; (p. 386)

Sorry if you only wanted to know about bible verses, but I think this is a powerful quote, and just wanted to share it with you all.

That is pretty cool. Here's one from Sarah (of Sarah and Abraham) a novel by Orson Scott Card:

&quot;I trust in God,&quot; said Abram, &quot;not to save me from death but to save my soul when I die.&quot;

I think it has more weight behind it if you read the book and in particular the context in which that sentence is said but basically, in the book, Abram's gotten himself into a situation which will lead only to him being killed but instead of running away from the situation he stays and faces it and incidentally God sends an earthquake which gets him out of it.
